Hypnosis can be likened with a relaxed state, whereby we are thinking about 'nothing in particular'. We go in to hypnotic stated naturally throughout the day. The most common time is when you are travelling or driving, and then all of a sudden you come back to being fully aware of your surroundings, 'how did I get here?' you may think. There was a blank period, this is a bit like hypnosis can be - at the time you will have been in control, but your mind was somewhere else, and you can probably not put your finger on where.

So far my thoughts on hypnosis and what works: I don't think successful hypnotherapy is particularly about the techniques employed per se, but the 'hypnotic state' that one is led to. I've started to think of hypnotherapy as a massage for the brain, whereby the amygdala is down is down regulated which relaxes our neocortex to be more efficient at absorbing information.
I have been a counsellor & psychotherapist for over 15 years. More recently I have used NLP skills and tools within my work, resulting in quick results for my clients. NLP integrates elements of hypnosis, and I have seen the benefits and places that deeply relaxed clients can get to. So I am currently completing rigorous hypnotherapy training in Central England College which is a well renowned and established hypnotherapy training school. Here I will study and learn more multiple approaches to Hypnotherapy including: Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy, Solution Focussed Hypnotherapy, Ericksonian Hypnosis and NLP Coaching.
