So far my thoughts on hypnosis and what works: I don't think successful hypnotherapy is particularly about the techniques employed per se, but the 'hypnotic state' that one is led to. I've started to think of hypnotherapy as a massage for the brain, whereby the amygdala is down is down regulated which relaxes our neocortex to be more efficient at absorbing information.
